Tennis League Stats - 2025 Season Outlook
New NTRP Benchmarks and Surface-Specific Scaling
As we pivot into the 2025 USTA league season, TLA has processed over 500,000 new match results. This year, we are introducing "Surface-Specific Alpha," a proprietary metric that analyzes performance differences between clay and hard court matches to refine player scouting accuracy.
Early start leagues for 2025 are already showing a significant 12% increase in self-rated players in the 3.5 and 4.0 divisions. Captains are encouraged to use our Player Trend Reports to identify outliers before local playoffs begin.

Tennis League Stats - 2024 Year in Review
National Championship Predictions and Sectional Gains
2024 was a banner year for TLA predictive modeling. Our Flight Scouting reports successfully predicted 78% of the semi-finalists at the 40 & Over Nationals. We saw record-breaking "Bump Up" rates in the Southern and Florida sections, indicating a rising floor of talent in the 4.0+ categories.
We have updated the database with final year-end ratings for 2024. Use our updated Team Strength Analysis to see how your squad stacks up against the newly promoted 2025 competition.
Tennis League Stats - 2023 Strategy Adjustments
The Impact of Third-Set Tiebreak Composures
Analysis of 2023 data revealed that 35% of USTA matches went to a 10-point tiebreak. TLA now highlights "Tiebreak Win %" to help captains determine their most "clutch" starters. Our 2023 recap shows that teams with a high Tiebreak Composure rating won 15% more matches than those with higher overall NTRP averages but poor TB records.
Congratulations to the Texas Section for achieving the highest "win-back" rate of appealed ratings this year.
Tennis League Stats - 2022 Participation Trends
Return to Full-Scale League Play
With league participation returning to pre-pandemic levels in 2022, we focused on "Strike Rate" monitoring. Our 2022 reports helped captains identify 4.5 players who were eventually strike-rated up, allowing for more strategic lineup planning during the regular season.
Tennis League Stats - 2021 Modified Seasons
The 2021 season required a unique weighting system due to limited match play in certain districts. TLA successfully adjusted algorithms to maintain fair ratings despite smaller sample sizes, ensuring the integrity of the 2021 year-end USTA benchmarks.
Tennis League Stats - 2020 Historical Archiving
While league play was largely suspended in 2020, TLA used this period to back-populate match data dating back to 2015. This allows our current users to see a decade-long view of their rating evolution and competitive history.

Southern Section Championships for 40 & Over 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 Women and Men start July 27, 2018 at the Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center.
