Today we cover the South Area event of the Southern California District Championships for 40 & Over 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 Women and Men. For the North Area, scroll down to yesterday's post.
Again, major kudos to USTA SoCal, TLA's data driven analysis shows that SoCal does an excellent job of balancing flights for both numbers of teams as well as team strength.
Women’s 3.5
Two flights - 8 teams overall.
Top teams:
1. SDNC LLWSAP Lomas Santa FeThe top five teams sit within 5 hundredths of a rating point. But the top two teams should finish 1 and 2.
Men’s 3.5
One flights - 4 teams.
Top teams:
1. SDNC LLWSAP Kit Carson Park/There is a lot of spread between #1 and #4. But 3.5 has relatively large variability and with only four teams in the event, anything can happen.
Women’s 4.0
Two flights - 6 teams overall.
Top teams:
1. OC WE LLWSAP Spring ChixLess then 5 hundredths of a rating point separates #1 from #6 - this event is wide open. I really like BC's depth. Expect tie breaks and 3-2 results. Every game will count.
Men’s 4.0
Two flights - 6 teams overall.
Top teams:
1. BC LLWSAP AltaVistaThere are strength rating gaps between each team so upsets should not be expected if every players shows up.
Women’s 4.5
Two flights - 6 teams overall.
Top teams:
1. SDNC LLWSAP Surf and TurfInteresting match ups when the top three play each other - they are close in strength.
Men’s 4.5
Two flights - 6 teams overall.
Top teams:
1. BC LLWSAP MiraCostaHard to see BC LLWSAP not winning.
