TLA team strength ratings and flight scouting reports continue to provide accurate insights. The vast majority of the USTA championship events played out as indicated in TLA's flight scouting reports.
4.5 - #1 NC over #2 GA in the final, exactly per the Flight Scouting report. Both went 3-0 in the group stage.
4.0 - #3 MS won over #2 LA.
3.5 - #1 NC won
Men4.5 - #2 AL over #1 NC in the final.
4.0 - #1 and #2, both GA teams, met in the finals exactly as the Flight Scouting Report showed.
3.5 - #2 TN won the final, coming out of the easier Flight B. The tougher Flight A finished in a three way tie.
4.5 - #1 SFV-WD LLWNAP advanced. TLA's #2, V-VENT WC finished in a three-way tie in Team Wins and Individual Wins but missed by two sets.
4.0 - #1 LA and #2 SGV advanced. #3 V-LLWNAP lost to #5 SB Volley Girls. All of the top rated teams in this draw were very close in TLA Strength Rating.
3.5 - All top teams advanced
North Men4.5 - The top ranked teams in each flight, #1 SFV and #3 SGV, won flights and advanced.
4.0 - #1 and #2, SGV and SFV, won flights and advanced.
3.5 - #1 and #2, both are SGV teams, won flights and advanced.
4.5 - #1 and #2, SDNC and OC Lower PC, won flights and advanced.
4.0 - #2 BC won over #1 in Flight II - the teams were separated by one hundredth of a point. #3 SD won Flight I.
3.5 - #1 and #3, SDNC Lomas and SD WD Eastlake, won flights. TLA's #2 was a miss at 0-3.
EDIT: Aug 2 We thought this miss was too big and researched the line-ups. Our #2 team did not play their best player, that is, the player with the highest TLA Strength Rating. The team lost 2-3 and by tie-breakers in each team match.
South Men4.5 - #1 BC MiraCosta finished second in a three way tie in Flight I to #3 SDNC Fairbanks Ranch CC - this was a surprise - big congrats to SDNC.
4.0 - #1 and #2, BC AltaVista and OC Lower PC, won flights and advanced.
3.5 - #1 SDNC Kit Carson Park and #2 BC AltaVista finished in a three way tie for first.
Congratulations to the new USTA Section and Area champions.
