3.5    Northern wins in an upset. #1 New Jersey Nice Aces did not play four of their top players; A missing singles player on day 1 of the sectional and a retired singles match on day 2 doomed #2 Metro Banks/Blue.
4.0    #1 New Jersey Team Heath/Dugan
4.5+    #1 Southern The SS Tennis Team

Men

3.5    #1 New Jersey Good Boys Repeat as champions. Good Boys won the Adult 18's and now Adult 40's with many of the same players.
4.0    #1 New Jersey Team Moon. Call them the "Tiebreak Kings" as they went 9-0 in TBs .
4.5+    #3 Long Island Point Set beats #1 Southern Armonk Tennis to win the flight; #1 Southern Armonk Tennis comes in second.

Midwest

Women

3.5    #1 Indiana Indianapolis Racquet Club in first; #2 Wisconsin Lake Geneva in second in a very competitive flight with lots of tiebreaks and three set matches.
4.0    "Any of the top 3 teams could win" we said. #2 Illinois Rush Copley Health Plex emerges as sectional champion.
4.5+    In a head to head match featuring 4 third set TBs, #3 Michigan Hope College edges #1 Illinois Challenge Fitness to win the sectional.

Men

3.5    Ohio Olympic Indoor Tennis. #1 Wisconsin- Madison was missing 2 of their top players. #2 Michigan Franklin Athletic finishes second.
4.0    "Less than a tenth of a rating point separates #1 from #5 ... expect 3-2 results" With smart line-ups, Wisconsin Highlander emerges as sectional champion with 3-2 wins over #1 Illinois Northbrook Racquet and #2 Ohio Perrysburg Tennis Ctr.
4.5+    #1 Indiana Indianapolis first; #2 Illinois River Trails Tennis Ctr second.

Midwest Section Championships for Adult 40 & Over start August 24, 2018 in Indianapolis.

Midwest USTA tennis league stats

All the teams are very good and every team has a chance to beat any other team. Tennis League Analytics ranks the following teams as the strongest.


Women’s 3.5

5 Teams

Top teams:
1. Indiana - Indianapolis Racquet Club
2. Wisconsin - Lake Geneva Tennis
3. Illinois - Midtown AC - Bannockburn

Indiana has a slight TLA strength advantage vs Wisconsin and Illinois, who are very close to each other in strength rating.


Men’s 3.5

5 teams

Top teams:
1. Wisconsin - Madison
2. Michigan - Franklin Athletic

Wisconsin and Michigan are separated by 8 thousandths of a point in strength rating and have good separation from the rest of the field. #3 Illinois - TAM returns to this sectional with many of the same players who played in the Adult 18 sectional this past weekend.


Women’s 4.0

5 Teams

Top teams:
1. Indiana - Indianapolis Racquet Club
2. Illinos - Rush Copley Health Plex
3. Wisconsin - Smokin Hot Shots

Indiana is a little stronger than Illinois and Wisconsin but any of these three could win.


Men’s 4.0

5 teams

Top teams:
1. Illinois - Northbrook Racquet Club
2. Ohio - Perrysburg Tennis Center

Less than a tenth of a rating point separates #1 from #5. Expect tiebreaks and 3-2 results. Every game will count. This should be fun for all the teams.


Women’s 4.5+

5 teams

Top teams:
1. Illinois - Challenge Fitness
2. Wisconsin - North Shore Country Club
3. Michigan - Hope College

While #1 Illinois is TLA's top-rated team, the core team played Adult 18's last weekend and forfeited a singles line in every match. #3 Michigan - Hope College also returns after playing Adult 18's last weekend. Any of the top three can win this but if all of Illinois players show, they have enough strength to win.


Men’s 4.5+

4 teams

Top teams:
1. Indiana - Indianapolis
2. Illinois - River Trails Tennis Ctr

There is very little separation between #1 and #3.

New Jersey and Metro are separated by 8 thousandths of a point in TLA's strength ratings - it's a toss-up.


Men’s 3.5

6 teams

Top teams:
1. New Jersey - Good Boys
2. Southern - Dynamos

#1 and #2 are very close in strength rating. New Jersey won the Adult 18 3.5 Section this past weekend with many of the same players.


Women’s 4.0

6 Teams

Top teams:
1. New Jersey - Team Heath/Dugan
2. Long Island - Kings Park
3. Metro - Bailey/Pavels

#1 to #5 are very close in rating and any one could win. NJ has enough strength and doubles depth to win with smart line-ups.


Men’s 4.0

6 teams

Top teams:
1. New Jersey - Team Moon
2. Metro - Tallia/Brown/Akpan
3. Northern - Dunn/Lee

This sectional event should be a lot of fun. A tenth of a rating point separates #1 from #6. Expect tiebreaks in every match and many 3-2 results. Every game will count.


Women’s 4.5+

5 teams

Top teams:
1. Southern - The SS Tennis Team
2. Long Island - Carefree
3. Metro - Bacey

The top three are very close in strength rating with good separation versus the rest of the flight - toss-up.


Men’s 4.5+

5 teams

Top teams:
1. Southern - Armonk Tennis Club
2. New Jersey - Caradonna/Charnow

Southern will be hard to beat if their top players show up. #3 not far behind NJ.
